From the new album Everybody Looking.

The prevailing notion that post-prison Gucci Mane is some sort of android-clone hybrid is pretty ridiculous. However, as fans reach to comprehend his stark transformation, it’s easy to see where such an idea might originate. Despite his recent Snapchatting, six-pack flaunting, and public kale connoisseur-ing, it’s in his songs that Gucci makes the most compelling argument that his changes are in part supernatural.

Free of his former lean-induced haze, Gucci’s flow on “Pussy Print” is the fiercest it’s ever been. Over a sinister beat from one-time protégé Mike Will Made-It, Gucci drops a verse that reads like a punchline highlight reel. The snarky self-awareness of “I only featured Kanye ’cause we both some fucking narcissists” makes this the clear standout, but almost any of these lines would've turned heads during his pre-prison mixtape run. And as impressive as “Pussy Print” is, it shouldn’t be too surprising. Gucci ascended to the throne of Southern street rap while balancing a drug addiction, surviving murder attempts, and rapping entire mixtapes from his head. With “Pussy Print,” he’s sober and more focused than ever.
