Graphics is the project of UK producer Alfie MacGibbon. Here, on a track for an upcoming single release through Made to Play, he creates an eerie, patient groove using a simple fomula: methodical, grid-like layering of incongruous beats and samples. "Mama Grizzlies" takes a warped and alien vocal track and slowly incorporates a dancehall loop, a dirty, dubby bassline, and some anxious Trent Reznor/David Fincher soundtrack-style digital instumentation. By the time four and a half minutes have passed, it feels like MacGibbon orchestrated an uncanny congo line of samples that could chug along indefinitely. (via the Fader)
