Just last month, we posted about Torn Hawk’s cassette-only release, and now the Bushwick-by-way-of-Jersey producer returns with another new one on L.I.E.S. Released as a split single with Black Deer (who, as a pair, also collaborated with Secret Circuit for a one-off single), “Born to Win (Life After Ghostbusters)” showcases yet another side of Torn Hawk. This time, he takes his guitar into Balearic overdrive, adding warped surf guitar lines to his motorik beats. The end result is fifteen minutes of shimmering, blissed-out, golden tones that should appeal to fans of Kurt Vile's Wakin on a Pretty Daze, as well as Manuel Göttsching.
