Back in 2010, Portland duo Soft Metals released their self-titled debut on Captured Tracks, a hazy record loaded with spiralling synths and distant, pop-leaning melodies. On July 16, Soft Metals return with a new album, Lenses, and this new song from that album, "In the Air", features a more muscular, beat-driven take on their hypno-beat sound-- provided, ostensibly, by Optimo's JD Twitch, who lends his exquisite drum programming touch for this one.
