Edinburgh native Leon T. Pearl signed to Disclosure's Method imprint earlier this year, and in August he released "Take You to Market", a tongue-in-cheek slice of garage revivalism in which he tried to ditch his girl for the night so he could get shit-faced with his mates. Now he's back with another track, the more straight-faced and melancholic "If You're Still There". Pearl ramps up the lurch this time around, constructing a swinging rhythm out of clattering percussion and punchy bass that propels the track forward without putting it in danger of spinning off axis. He might share a penchant for the same crisp brightness and well-manicured beats that the Lawrence brothers favor, but Pearl's knack for carving out hooks—and his ability to lend his own vocals to his tracks—should prevent him from a fate as a minor satellite in Disclosure's orbit.
