For a while now, deconstructionist auteur Hauschka has taken an off-center approach to his use of piano, heading in a distinctly dance-focused direction in recent years. On March 17, Temporary Residence (City Slang in Europe) will release Abandoned City, the follow-up to Hauschka's collab with violinist Hilary Hahn, last year's Silfra, and the first Hauschka solo LP since 2011's intriguing Salon des Amateurs. According to a press release, this unsettling first single, "Elizabeth Bay", draws from a piece of music Hauschka wrote for a "reinvention" of Wagner's opera The Flying Dutchman.
