Controversy-baiting Liturgy frontman Hunter Hunt-Hendrix is handling guitar and vocal duties in a new band, Survival, who are prepping their self-titled debut LP for release on May 14 via Thrill Jockey. A press release notes that the members of the band have played together in various groups over the past decade, and that some of the album's songs pre-date Liturgy's existence. Opening track "Tragedy of the Mind" certainly sounds like it's cut from Liturgy's cloth, featuring a lean guitar that's nearly punishing in its embrace of zoned-out repitition.
