This album right here changed everything for me. This is THE grunge album and totally gives you the grunge experience without warning. Just such a tragic album that lets you know the band has had enough. You can feel the pain from every vocal delivery, drum pattern, guitar riff. Holy shit, this album just is insane. The cohesion just blends together so well. Every song delivered, and dare I say Iron Gland too. Idc if it’s like a interlude or wtv, I love the atmosphere. It rips off the Black Sabbath song ‘Iron Man’ which is a cool little fact. I mean Layne’s vocal delivery is just killer on this mf. It feels like a thousand angry spirits speaking to you at once, but in a way that fits with the song. Them Bones is such a banger of a opener. Just gives it to you raw no warning or hesitation. “Some Say were born into the grave.” WOW…just wow, such an introspective way to look at life, you know? I believe Jerry Cantrell probably cooked that one up (although it’s an idiom said time and time again), it’s still something cool added to the song. The guitar solo and riffs on this track are just insane. What a way to start off a song. Rain when I die has this great build up that I love. The wah-wah pedal used on it adds this other worldly effect that makes you feel like you’re entering a vortex. Layne hops on the track then builds up to this catharsis of emotion. The guitar work from Jerry really shines on this track. I could keep going on, but I’ll finish off on the closing track. Would? Is just such a good closing song. It’s funny because I didn’t really vibe with the song orinally. Now it’s probably one of my favorites off the album. The abstract lyricism on this tracks adds to the almost mystique sound of the song. God I love this tracks it’s such a good closing song. The minimalistic drums, Jerry opening up the song followed by Layne. Such a good song, man. I want to give some flowers to Mike Starr because the baseline on Rain when I die is just so good. Such a good opener to an amazing song. I really love this record I’m comfortable with giving it a 10 for sure.
