Kicking off like Edward Scissorhands getting freaky inside a microwave, New York producer Gobby's "Trans.09" swiftly shapeshifts into a molten, toxic sludge of a club track. His recipe of footwork drums, radioactive bass, and a hypertense vocal sample could very easily alienate listeners-- so stick with it, since you might find that the end result is weirdly cleansing. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gobby has performed with similarly sonically-testing-but-therapeutic UK duo Hype Williams before, playing drums at their Unsound show last year. "Trans.09" will be available on Gobby's forthcoming free EP, Lantern, out 29 January via UNO.
