When the Atlanta band Gold-Bears emerged in 2011, they seemed nice enough:  A sweet and capable jangle-pop band in a moment when sweet and capable jangle-pop bands were forming like sweat-lodge condensation. On "For You," from their upcoming Dalliance, they suddenly, startlingly, leap into great. "For You" is an exhilarating blast of Superchunk's yelps, Buzzcocks' guitar tones, and Los Campesinos!' irrepressibility – check the chimes that come in over the din in the last minute, which are spiritual cousins to both 'You! Me! Dancing!" and Vampire Weekend's "Cousins".  The song feels urgent, bright, and full of jitters, marking that space where anxiety is indistinguishable from excitement.
