On “Answer My Text,” PWR BTTM’s Liv Bruce faces a familiar crisis. The song tackles one of the key conundrums of modern-day dating, as it follows Bruce’s trek through the anxiety, hope and hilarity of anticipating your crush’s next text. Eventually it becomes too much, and Bruce’s raucous chorus of “ANSWER MY TEXT, YOU DICK!” blurts out what we’re all thinking. Surrounding those stabs of feeling are Bruce’s stripped-down vocals riding the wave of emotions, vacillating between dejection and affection, while bandmate Ben Hopkins’ frantic drumming adds another level of rage. PWR BTTM, just like most people, can't seem to let go of their phones, and “Answer My Text,” is their version of a wake-up call from the shitty mores of romance.
