Montreal electro-pop outfit Young Galaxy decamped to producer Dan Lissvik's hometown of Gothenburg, Sweden for the recording of their fourth album Ultramarine, and the courage of that leap is reflected in their newest single, "Fall for You". The band makes use of a handful of bold textures and varied influences: drum fills reminiscent of Gothenburg Balearic pop luminaries like Air France and the Tough Alliance, darkly colored seesaw keyboards and chunky guitar riffs, a late-breaking synth hook that's ripped from the Cut Copy playbook. The brunt of the melodic weight is initially placed on lead singer Catherine McCandless, and she rises to the challenge with a rich vocal performance while complementary pieces are gradually added into the mix.
