There's a very good chance you've seen Úlfur live without even knowing it-- he's part of the backing band for Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi. Relatedly, for his new album, White Mountain, Alex Somers, who collaborated with Jónsi for the Riceboy Sleeps project, handled mixing duties. Somers wasn't the only guest to pitch in: Alexandra Sauser-Monnig of close-harmonizing trio Mountain Man contributed vocals throughout the album, including this cut. "So Very Strange" is all string-y dread and drone, with Sauser-Monnig's vocals sparsely sprayed over the track's vaguely doomy structure. (If you're used to listening to her work with Mountain Man, it's likely you haven't heard her voice used like this before.) White Mountain is out March 5 via Western Vinyl.
