If there's one artist in the drum and bass scene who has never changed while remaining new and fresh - it's High Contrast, and this really shines in 'Restoration'. The entire album is infused with classy jazz and soul samples that have always been Mr. Barrett's signature move ever since his very first record, and this no doubt remains a formula that will never get old, especially in the majestic way that he manages pulls it off. It's definitely easy listening for sure, but that doesn't change how each and every track on this uplifting album has such a unique take on the genre, that off which High Contrast continues to redefine and make his own. Genuinely his music is so unique to him that he deserves to have his own genre at this point.
