The hypnotic 2011 12" Uhh Uhh from Los Angeles four-piece Pharaohs lulled you into its atmosphere with baleric-inspired grooves, but as soon as you settled in there was always a surprise around the corner-- a weird, pitch-shifted sample here, a serpentine sax solo there. The trick up their sleeve on the blissed-out disco reverie "Miraculous Feet" (from their full-length debut, Replicant Moods, out April 20th on 100% Silk) is label mate Maria Minerva, who lends her signature vocals to the track. "Boy from the street with miraculous feet," she chants playfully, "I can feel the heat rising." As the track winds and slinks through a progression of glittering textures, the call to follow its footsteps is irresistible.
