After releasing "Evil Coast" last November, Swedish indie-pop outfit the Mary Onettes have put out the more upbeat title track from their forthcoming album Hit the Waves. Producer Dan Lissvik (Young Galaxy, Taken By Trees) shows his deft hand here as frontman Philip Ekstrom's voice strains to Robert Smith-esque levels of yearning, crashing again and again into the cresting chorus like the prow of a motorboat. Even when the song hits a calm patch, Ekstrom never loses sight of land. "There's something buried deep inside, shaking me," he sings. A single guitar moves in the depths, and before long the song shifts back up to its rollicking climax.
