Nautic are a new trio from London comprised of producer Bullion, Laura Groves (who used to make folk-pop as Blue Roses), and Tic of the Young Turks label. "Fresh Eyes” is their first offering: a saxophone-led soul jam that smacks of a drowsier Womack & Womack. "I can't believe the way you make me feel inside/ When you look at me with fresh eyes,” sings Groves, and it's not hard to believe her. There's a lot going on in "Fresh Eyes": a sweet piano intro, that mournful saxophone (courtesy of London musician/producer Slime), gentle guitar flourishes, bubbling drum machine and, of course, the hopeful call-and-response vocals of Groves, Bullion and Tic. It sounds like the smoothest of unions.
