Long-running sludge metal experimentalists Old Man Gloom are a "super group" of sorts featuring founders Aaron Turner (Isis, Mamiffer, Split Cranium) on vocals/guitars and Santos Montano on drums with Caleb Scofield (Cave In, Zozobra) on bass and Nate Newton (Converge, Doomriders) on guitar. (Just about everyone sings or screams.) They're releasing their fifth album, NO, on June 26 via Hydra Head. It's their first in eight years, and you'll get an idea of how heavy, noisy, fucked up, and flat-out beautiful they can get in 2012 via the eight-minute "Common Species".
