Phil Kay used to be the frontman for the vaguely Teutonic electro-pop outfit Working for a Nuclear Free City, whose last album, Jojo Burger Tempest, saw release back in 2010; now, he's got his own project that finds him further exploring the rippling synths and hypnotic repetition of kraut-leaning electronic music. The project's called King of the Mountains, and its debut LP, Zoetrope, is out April 14 via Melodic; the radiant warmth of "Zebra Girls" gives a good idea of where Kay's creative mindset is at.
