Kate Eldridge, the songwriter behind Seattle's Big Eyes, has an impressive pedigree when it comes to crafting catchy, punk-spirited rock songs of the D.I.Y. persuasion. The former singer/guitarist in Brooklyn-via-Long Island act Cheeky-- which featured guitarist Brian Schleyer (now of The Babies) and drummer Angie Boylan (of Aye Nako)-- Eldridge also briefly played in P.S. Eliot alongside Allison and Katie Crutchfield (now of Swearin' and Waxahatchee, respectively).

Fans of the aforementioned bands will find something to like in Big Eyes, who have been going since 2009. Their melodies meld hi-fi pop-punk punch with a 1950s pop sensibility, marked by Eldridge's lyrical swagger on tracks such as "I Prefer to Be Alone" and "I Don't Care About Friday Night". Following debut full-length Hard Life, which was released in 2011 by Don Giovanni, they'll release a new LP next month via Grave Mistake. Check out new song "Being Unkind" plus a bonus track, "Back From the Moon", which was released as a single last year.
