In a playlist Bison B.C. vocalist/guitarist James Farwell made for Decibel, he paired Neil Young, Vic Chestnutt, Bob Segar, and Nick Cave with Lucero, Samiam, and Jawbreaker, among others. It's worthwhile considering those listening habits while digging into the Vancouver, B.C., quartet's Sanford Parker-produced fourth album, Lovelessness, out today, October 22, on Metal Blade, a six-song collection that takes its time across almost 45 minutes. The self-described "Canadian dirtbags" weave bluesy guitars, hardcore anthemics, and decidedly downcast and personal lyrics into their sludgy thrash. You get all of this with closer, "Finally Asleep".
