There may be no finer beard in the world of beardo disco than that of Australia producer Lewie Day, who works as Tornado Wallace. After a handful of singles on the Delusions of Grandeur imprint and a psychedelic house single from earlier this year on ESP Institute, Wallace’s first single for Beats in Space builds from a sputtering drum machine set to 102 BPM. Slowly, Wallace lets that primitive beat accumulate chunks of sawed cello, arpeggiated synths, and even a gnarl of electric guitar near the break, making for a track that feels Balearic and tropical, chill even if coated in equatorial sweat.
