Los Angeles quartet Intronaut are currently the first act on a touring three-band bill headlined by Meshuggah, the manically dense Swedes whose complexity doesn’t always dovetail with approachability. Though Intronaut are often tagged with similar prog or tech metal labels, "The Welding," from their forthcoming and fourth LP, Habitual Levitations (Instilling Words with Tones), is winningly accessible. Comparisons to Deftones might be an oversell, but frontman Sacha Dunable is a capable melody-maker. Consider his hooks the beckoning bait, waiting in a lair of tessellated riffs and rhythms.
