Freeway has been working on a collaborative effort with the Bay Area favorite the Jacka for a few years now. The two rappers make a natural pairing—both communicate desperation and empathy on record easily and conversationally, and seem like people you could sit down and hash out your problems with. The project, called Highway Robbery, is finally due September 16, and "Cherry Pie" is the first featured song.-=-=-=-

The Jacka raps in one long exhalation, while Free's is a pained gasp, and Jeffro's beat is textured, quiet, and downcast. Freddie Gibbs has a verse too, and the casual energy seems to have leaked into his verse, which is a little softer and more melodic than usual. Free flips his flow, sounding rejuvenated and comfortable in his new company.
