Taragana Pyjarama can do pretty, that we know. Following his gorgeous and propulsive 2011 single "Ocean", "Growing Forehead" previewed his debut Tipped Bowls with overwhelming-yet-beatless swooning more in line with shoegaze, its clipped vocal sample doubling as a lump-in-the-throat inability to comment on its blinding radiance. "Lo Ng," Tipped Bowls' second single, is still every bit as luscious texturally, the swishing synths and aquatic bass achieving a sonic cohesion that feels like the result of water tension. But there's an economic, minimal rhythm bounce that's a new look, splitting the difference between Four Tet's There Is Love In You and the micro-detailed electronics of his labelmates on Kompakt.
