After they tackled bass music's subtler side on their 2010 debut North, British trio Darkstar took a left turn towards Beach Boys harmonies and Animal Collective's spatial abstractions with this year's intriguing News From Nowhere. On October 15, Warp releases a companion EP, 01484, which collects three NFN remixes-- two from Darkstar themselves, and one from dusty techno producer Motor City Drum Ensemble, who dismantles the serene harmonies of album track "A Day's Pay for a Day's Work" and refashions the rest into a typically thumping seven-minute stretcher.
