Young Parisian producer Paume makes humid, roiling electronic music, at turns swollen by humidity and laden with a dark sensuality. "Follies", the first track cut from his upcoming debut EP Transalpine, is driven by splashy live percussion and flecked by an array of vaguely tropical sounds: hooting and screeching animals, rustling branches, vocal snippets made to sound like they're bent around tree trunks and reflected by pools of tepid water. It's an impressively detailed piece of scene setting from an artist whose home turf is decidedly urban; this is lush, grayscale house, the sound of fecund undergrowth lurking beneath the City of Light.
