When I posted "The Arborist", the kinetic opening track from Bay Area quartet Bosse-de-Nage's third LP, III, out June 26 on Profound Lore, I mentioned the group had a knack for mixing explosive post-punk and black metal with a dose of Slint. You'll get a good sense of this with "The God Ennui", a 10-minute song that offers an explosive course in push/pull dynamics. As with that last one, pay attention to the drumming.
