The Bay area producer and rapper Iamsu! (real name: Sudan Ameer Williams) slid into the spotlight last year with a rubbery, knock-kneed flow on E-40's "Function" and has been steadily gaining attention ever since. As a producer, his beats are sparse, bright and vivid; as a rapper, his voice has the easy inflection of Wiz Khalifa with the added bonuses of wit and personality. He's very easy to like, and on "Rep That Gang", from his forthcoming Kilt 2 mixtape, he flashes an intensity to match. The beat is filled with blank space and isolated activity: a high hollow synth, a dull mortar-round thud, and some tricky snare and hi-hat programming. Su's verses are uncharacteristically cold, only flashing his playful side furtively: "Blog sites they mention me/I said 'pay me more attention, please.'"
