Given Rich Homie Quan’s established flair for the dramatic and the fact that he recently did 15 months on a burglary rap, “Make That Money”, off his new mixtape I Promise I Will Never Stop Going In, might have been a by-any-means confessional. Instead, it’s a more stable song full of fresher-than-thou pride ($3200 between two pairs of shoes!) and linear piano pounding courtesy of Quan’s fellow Atlantans JPadron and Villo.

As “Differences” and “Type of Way” have proven, the 24-year-old Quan is capable of delivering snaky, unshakeable hooks, but the refrain on "Make That Money" is especially incantatory. After water-whipper posturing and a dozen or so sex boasts, Quan turns inward with his mutter-flow: “It’s me against the world/ Nigga feelin like 2Pac.” To hell with the new commas in his bank account–his motivation levels are high.
