At a time earlier this year when "Trap Queen" pounded out of speakers everywhere speakers were available, Fetty Wap premiered a snippet of a song called "Jugg" via his excellent Instagram account. The hook was so huge that it didn't take long for a since-deleted YouTube version of the post to pile up half a million views. Just as he had done with "Trap Queen", Fetty Wap captivated listeners' imaginations to the point where a full song almost felt like an afterthought. All it took was those 15 seconds to fall in love.-=-=-=-
"Jugg" is now the latest single from Fetty Wap's debut album and it delivers on the promise, though it tones down the initial exuberance of Fetty's Insta clip. We end up with a sturdier song. Again, Fetty's inviting, beaming presence—"I'll teach you how to jugg with me!"—carries the track, and Remy Boy Monty seals up the family-affair feel that lines the entire debut. "Jugg" is another factual jump-off; it's no longer a wonder how this guy inspires so much joy, just a truth of our current pop universe. The best moments of "Jugg" feel like a soundtrack to meeting some omniscient operator at the center of it all. I’d be like, hey, what’s up? Hello.
