It's been a while—nearly a half-decade, to be precise—since former Rodan member Tara Jane O'Neil released a solo album, with 2009's A Ways Away. That album came out on K, and her next release will be put out by a similarly reputed indie institution: Kranky, who will issue Where Shine New Lights on January 27. "Wordless in Woods" hangs on a single guitar figure for a while, a glowing ambient hum surrounding it, taking very few but nonetheless deeply satisfying tonal shifts in the process.
