When we last checked on Brooklyn guitar strangler/video mulcher Luke Wyatt, aka Torn Hawk, he had a new album on Not Not Fun and was self-releasing his own singles. A few months on, Wyatt's now aligned with Mexican Summer, which will release his rather emo-sounding album Let's Cry and Do Pushups at the Same Time in November. For the first single, "I'm Flexible", Wyatt reaches back to his adolescence, reworking "Time for Thick", a song that first appeared on his Teen Hawk comp. It hits all of Torn Hawk's sweet spots—1980s movie end-credit drum machines coupled with kosmische guitar shimmer. In this gentle reworking, Wyatt adds more assured and smeared guitar lines, making the winsome song even more strange and psychedelic.-=-=-=-
