The best moments on Wakin on a Pretty Daze, Kurt Vile’s excellent album from earlier this year, were also the most sincere; “Feel My Pain”, one of seven outtakes from a new EP, it’s a big world out there (and i am scared) (out November 19 via Matador), succeeds accordingly, though the fingerpicked tune is more concerned with redemption than moderation. “There’s a place out there that we can go and clean up our act,” Vile sings over squeaky fretting and muddled, metronomic drums. Sometimes that vaporous delivery of his can hold some serious weight.
