Good
This is a really good opener. I love the juxtaposition of the subjective production stylistic interpretation of a carnival or festival a ssound effects then jumping right into that electric guitar. I mean it’s just so powerful and it shocks you in a way that grabs your attention fully. I mean the stylistic approach do the production adds this layer of a psychedelic nature. I really love the production on this track it’s almost like cinematic in a way with the cheering and clapping and other sound effects. It’s a proper introduction that sets the tone for the rest of the album. John leads us in with his vocals which I’m not too fond of. I think him yelling throws me off a bit I’m not sure. It works, but I thought it could’ve been better. I do love when the band comes together to sing the chorus. It’s catchy and the name itself “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” is such a bizarre and outrageous title which fits the psychedelic nature. It also feels this tracks soul purpose was to just spring board into the next track. I think a little help from my friends is just leagues above this track. That was probably their intention, and probably did this purposely, but I just love the second track more than the opener. Still a solid song that I come back to, but not as often as the proceeding song. It’s also crazy that Hendrix learned this song like three days after it was released. The pure talent to just go off your ear and know how to play it is really impressive.
