Brooklyn-based producer Slava doesn't fall comfortably within a particular genre of dance music, but the frenetic tics of footwork have dominated most of his work since 2012’s Soft Control EP. “Better”—a cut off his upcoming EP Comma Sutra, out March 25 via Software—finds the producer in a more chilled-out and melodic mindset that approaches house music. It's a mature effort, but it's also unmistakably Slava, from the propulsive drum programming and clipped vocal samples to the rounded tones of his Korg Electribe.
