Possibly the greatest dubstep single ever released. If you haven't listened to James Blake's dubstep debut yet then please find the time to do so, I promise you won't regret it. The title track 'Air & Lack Thereof' feels to me like if a Lo-Fi chord progression walked into the wrong band practice and just rolled with it. And it's revolutionarily spectacular. The drop is also extremely innovative; where most dubstep tracks would drop on the first kick drum beat, this spends a short moment of silence before throwing you in the deep end with the snare drum kicking off the drop. The B-side titled 'Sparing The Horses' utilises dissonant chords and an unusual bass progression to put a whole new spin on dark, yet funky post-dubstep. Every the constant 1 beat moments of silence before the drop kicks in again feels so delicately placed and intricate despite containing.. nothing. Bravo Mr. Blake.
