After decades out of print, famed punk producer Craig Leon's 1981 cosmic classic Nommos got booted and reissued a fair amount the past two years. Now comes RVNG's authorized edition, coupled with Leon's follow-up, Visiting, as Anthology of Interplanetary Folk Music Vol. 1 (out on June 23 in the UK and June 24 elsewhere). Both albums were inspired by a 1973 Brooklyn Museum exhibit of Dogon sculptures from Mali that recollect an extraterrestrial visitation to that tribe. "One Hundred Steps" sounds at once primitive and celestial, bringing to mind the deliberate pacing of Boards of Canada and any other like-minded sonic explorers.
