100s is a Berkeley-based rapper who has previously worked with Main Attrakionz. He shares the same birth year as Snoop Dogg’s classic 1993 debut, Doggystyle; similar to a young Snoop, who crafted one of rap’s great personas as a smooth-talking gangster who's also a humorous stoner, 100s has arrived as a fully-formed character. Witness, for example, the video for "Brick $ell Phone", from his debut mixtape Ice Cold Perm, where 100s plays the role of a minor pimp who probably cares more about the flow of his hair in the wind than his profession. Rap sometimes struggles with issues of authenticity, but "Brick $ell Phone" shows that he isn't afraid of a little myth construction.
