When I interviewed Aluk Todolo around the time of their 2007 debut LP Descension and asked what would come next, I was told "Black and White Dreams." That's actually a pretty good description for everything the instrumental French trio does, but it's especially apt for their sprawling third record, the double album, Occult Rock, out November 20 via Ajna Offensive. The songs are titled "Occult Rock", "I" through "VIII", and accordingly each track blends into the one before and after it, creating one hypnotic whole that offers various angles on the group's interests in krautrock, black metal, prog, and psychedelia.
