I discovered Amma because I’m a fan of RAYE, so naturally I was curious to hear what her sister was bringing to the table. Middle Child ended up being a really lovely introduction to her as an artist in her own right.

What I like most is how personal and vulnerable this album feels. Amma has a beautiful voice, but she doesn’t rely on the vocals alone — there’s a real emotional honesty in the songwriting that makes certain songs stick with you. “If You Don’t Love Me,” “Talking to Jesus,” and “Man Oh Man” were definitely some of my standouts.

I can understand why some people might compare her to RAYE or Absolutely, but honestly, I think that’s missing the point a little. They’re sisters, of course there are going to be similarities, but Amma is clearly starting to carve out her own space. Middle Child feels like the beginning of that journey rather than her trying to prove she’s already figured everything out.

Really enjoyed this one. A promising debut from an artist I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on. 🤍
