Christian Fennesz hasn't put out an album on experimental institution Mego since 2001's Endless Summer, and it's something of a wonderful coincidence that his return to the label is a conceptual follow-up to that classic document. On April 29, Mego releases Fennesz's first proper LP since 2008's opalescent Black Sea, Bécs; "Static Kings" is the first sliver of music we get to hear from the new one, and its silvery guitars and thrums of (yes) static surrounding them certainly call back to Endless Summer's obfuscated majesty.
