Naomi Scott’s F.I.G. feels like such a full-circle moment for me. I’ve known Naomi since my Disney Channel days, when I grew up listening to the Lemonade Mouth soundtrack and watching the movie, so I’ve always been aware that she could sing. I also followed her acting career through Power Rangers and Aladdin, which made hearing her step fully into her own music career especially interesting. What surprised me about F.I.G. is how mature and understated it feels. This doesn’t sound like an actress randomly releasing a pop album because she has the platform to do it. Naomi clearly has a musical identity of her own, blending pop, 80’s Style, and dreamy production with a very intimate vocal delivery. Her voice has always been there, but this album gives her room to show a different side of it. “Gracie,” “Cherry,” “Hellbent,” and “Call For Me” were some of the songs that stood out to me most. I also appreciate that the album is relatively short because it gets its point across without overstaying its welcome. If you grew up knowing Naomi as the girl from Lemonade Mouth or Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, F.I.G. is a really cool reminder that there’s more to her artistry than acting. It feels personal, polished, and surprisingly confident for a debut. I wouldn’t say every song completely grabbed me, but hearing Naomi finally have an entire project to call her own makes this a really enjoyable next chapter in an artist I’ve been familiar with for years.

the only bad thing about this album is that the songs are far too short!!
