**💭 Thoughts:** MF Doom and Madlib’s collab album *Madvillainy* released under the name Madvillain, is widely regarded as one of the most acclaimed and influential alternative/abstract hip-hop albums of the 2000s. While I agree with this to an extent, some of the choices—whether it be the off-putting (at least to me) accordion sound on “Accordion,” or the odd choices of not including rapping on “Sickfit” and “Do Not Fire!”—this album definitely misses a lot of opportunities and makes some poor decisions. That being said, this record still has its fair share of amazing tracks, as its reputation suggests; however, many of the songs definitely had the potential to be significantly better. **🎶 Tracklist Review** 1.) An album I feel like is above par but not so high. I get what they went for for this project but I just don’t see how people think this is one of THE best rap albums. If anything it’s not the rapping that I like about it, it’s the experimental production that I think stands out about its production. There’s too much big misses on this album (quasimoto literally ruins the two songs he’s on.), and the short tracks are cool, but just… why? And some tracks like accordion and bistro… it’s like, what was the goal here? Don’t get me wrong there are some great tracks on this, raids and no caps are great. No question at all. But the amount of just throwing around skits and samples it’s just maybe I don’t understand it. This is my first time listening to it. I wouldn’t be suprised if I reduxed this once or twice. I totally get why people would like this. And I totally get why people wouldn’t like this. I’m middle of the road. There are some tracks that are going in some playlists. Overall. Solid. But not Mona Lisa level art.

So underwhelming. Production from Madlib is great and really immerses you in this old school cartoon vibe. But the rapping and music is interrupted way too much by the constant skits/sketches and cartoon samples, and it completely destroys the flow of the album. The last three tracks of the album are all songs and you really start to get into it but then it abruptly ends, MF DOOM’s rapping is subpar on this as well. Top songs are ‘Figaro’ ‘All Caps’ ‘Great Day’ ‘’Rhinestone Cowboy’ ‘Fancy Clown’ ft Viktor Vaughn
