american dream
“Some things that went away and came back: Arrested Development, far-right politics, bum bags. The latter two examples were never a good idea but the fact remains that, even when something was good, the past should sometimes remain in the past. And so LCD Soundsystem fans are faced with a conundrum. James Murphy’s electro-punk band defined New York cool from 2002 to 2011 and it’s hard to overstate ”
This Is Happening
“On LCD's third LP, James Murphy applies his knowledge of post-punk and studio craft to remake 70s art-rock in his own hyper-modern, self-aware image.”
Sound of Silver
“James Murphy offers his second multi-track album as LCD Soundsystem, and it's as close to a perfect hybrid of dance and rock music's values as you're likely to ever hear.”
LCD Soundsystem
“The best way to describe LCD Soundsystem’s self titled debut is fun. It holds absolute classics like ‘Losing My Edge’ and more toned down emotional numbers like ‘Never as Tired…’. The kind of album that could replace a party playlist flawlessly. James Murphy has some of his strongest vocal performances at the very beginning of his career. Fav song : Losing My Edge”
Sound of Silver
“‘New York, I love You But You’re Bringing Me Down’ itself would be enough for this album to be fantastic and the 5 or 6 bangers which come before it are what pushes this album to the highest levels. I’ve never felt more a part of a city that I’ve never been to. Fav track : New York, I love You But You’re Bringing Me Down”
This Is Happening
“The greatest dance record of all time. ‘Dance Yrself Clean’ and ‘Home’ is an incredible beginning/end to an album which maintains that level throughout. Every single song is exciting and brings new ideas. While I’m grateful this wasn’t actually the band’s final record, what a send-off it would’ve been. Fav song : Home”
