This was the first album I bought (on iTunes) with my own money when I was 10 years old. To say this album was pivotal to me would be an understatement. With just 12 tracks, Ariana was able to describe the kind of pain and loss she was going through at such a young age. She not only was able to tell us, but she also created a beautiful piece of work that has helped me through various struggles in my life. Every track on this album is exactly how I feel the way that I relate to people, the way that I talk to people. This album is able to describe the inner workings of what it feels like to be young and confused and not know where the ground is. As I’ve gotten older, this album has truly stood the test of time for me. In a general sense, I think this is Ariana’s best pop record (I love all her releases), only because of how significant it is in pop culture. This album is often acclaimed as one of the newest additions to the “pop bible” collection. Sonically, it draws roots from early 2000s R&B and pop while still showcasing her incredible voice and what she’s best known for. Some of her biggest hits have come off this record, and beyond that, it perfectly describes what it means to create something in times of hardship. For those reasons, I highly, highly recommend listening to thank u, next. I guarantee that you’ll find a bit of yourself in this album.

not as experimental/melancholy as i thought when i listened to "hate that i made you love me", it still was very refreshing and an interesting new sound coming from ari. favs are: hate that i made you love me, oh well, freak -intro is insanely addicting-, and bad thing (bunny hop). i didn't expect to like charli's new album a bit more than this, the novelty of petal made it more enjoyable but i don't mind since I'm having fun.
