“DAMN. is a widescreen masterpiece of rap, full of expensive beats, furious rhymes, and peerless storytelling about Kendrick’s destiny in America.”
“Kung Fu Kenny throws off the messianic trappings of a rap god and contemplates mortality”
“After two years of dissection, acclaim, Grammy wins, world tours, protest anthems, high-school classes, influence on countless artists and co-signs from Obama, ‘To Pimp A Butterfly’ still bites with each listen. Kendrick Lamar’s jazz epic has never been bogged down by its hefty subject-matter or overexposure, from the dense lyricism to the bubbling free jazz instrumentation. So much that anything ”
“Kendrick Lamar turns his roving eye inward on the stunning DAMN.”
“Faith, p***y and politics – the mind of Kendrick Lamar is a hectic, action-packed place. The triumphant Compton MC might have cut down the number of tracks on his fourth studio album – ‘DAMN.’ is by far his shortest release to date – but the ideas, thoughts and feelings it contains are massive, weighty things, from sexual tension to deep, dark depression. Also jostling for attention is the eterna”
“DAMN. is one of Kendrick's most intriguing releases yet, delivering a series of tracks that are chaotic, layered, and deeply conflicted.”
“**💭 Thoughts:** *DAMN.* is Kendrick Lamar’s fourth official studio album, released in 2017. After the major success of the rapper’s highly acclaimed *To Pimp A Butterfly*, the next album he released was *DAMN.*, which further established him as one of the most skilled rappers of his generation—mainly for his lyricism and storytelling abilities. I truly believe this is his best album when it comes to storytelling. The way he is able to tell two completely different stories just by flipping the track list around (as seen on the collector’s edition) is mind-boggling. Obviously, storytelling isn’t the album’s only strength, as the track list consistently delivers on both rapping/vocals and production, with the more emotional tracks like “FEEL.” and “PRIDE.” especially standing out to me. **🎶 Tracklist Review** 1.) BLOOD. 🔵 2.) DNA. 🟢 3.) YAH. 🔵 4.) ELEMENT. 🟢 5.) FEEL. 🔵🥉 6.) LOYALTY. 🔵 7.) PRIDE. 🔵🥇 8.) HUMBLE. 🟢 9.) LUST. 🔵 10.) LOVE. 🟢 11.) XXX. 🔵 12.) FEAR. 🟢 13.) GOD. 🟡 14.) DUCKWORTH. 🔵🥈 ──────────────────── **🤔 Track Rating Scale** 🔵 Loved — Thoroughly enjoyed it and will revisit often. 🟢 Liked — Enjoyed it, but it’s not one I’d revisit often. 🟡 Mixed — Enjoyed it somewhat, but some aspects held it back for me; most likely won’t revisit. 🟠 Disliked — Didn’t enjoy it very much; won’t be revisiting. 🔴 Hated — Didn’t enjoy any part of it; no desire to revisit ever again. ⚪️ Interlude, etc. — Not rated as an actual song. ──────────────────── **🏅 Ranking Scale** 10 — Perfect 9 — Exceptional 8 — Great 7 — Good 6 — Decent 5 — Average 4 — Below Average 3 — Poor 2 — Bad 1 — Awful 0 — Unlistenable”
“If you said this was Kendrick best album I wouldn’t argue. It’s so heavily stacked with great songs. Story telling on this album is great too, especially on songs like ‘DUCKWORTH.’ ‘FEAR.’ & ‘XXX.’ Rapping & writing on this album is incredible too. Production wise this is definitely his best album, the beat selection is next level. Top songs for me are ‘DNA.’ ‘ELEMENT.’ ‘FEEL.’ ‘LOYALTY.’ ft Rihanna ‘FEAR.’ ‘DUCKWORTH.’ ‘LOVE.’ ft Zacari ‘GOD.’ ‘XXX.’ ft U2”
“Always thought this album was a 10/10 but damn (ha see what I did there) it keeps growing on me.. the concept is truly amazing and the fact it can be played in reverse with a completely changed concept is crazy. Kendrick really shined his artistic talent here the most and this is only his 4th best album lmao. The tracks I used to dislike like “LUST.” And “FEAR.” Keep getting back into my rotation. Such a unique album just listen already.”
“This is my favorite Kendrick Lamar album ever 🥹✌️. The songs are great not a single miss IMO.”
“A very good album with some of his best songs, it has very high highs and some low lows.”
“yeah it’s great, but i feel like it’s overhyped, not even top 3 Kendrick”
“This is my favortie album so far, only listened to toab and gkmc tho...”
“Holy crap Kendrick can tell a story and make you feel like you’re there”
