“As a recent new Billie fan, Happier Than Ever feels like a really important step in her journey — both personally and musically. This album is quieter and more introspective than WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, but that’s what makes it so powerful. Billie isn’t trying to recreate the past — she’s growing, reflecting, and letting us hear every part of it. The production (again, huge props to FINNEAS) is more stripped back, which puts the spotlight on her lyrics and voice — and wow, her voice is so delicate and expressive throughout. Songs like “Your Power,” “Male Fantasy,” and “Halley’s Comet” are absolutely heart-wrenching. You can feel the weight behind every word. Of course, the standout for me — and probably many others — is the title track, “Happier Than Ever.” The way it builds and explodes with emotion is just chef’s kiss. It’s raw and cathartic and feels like a scream she’s been holding in for years. Why four stars instead of five? A couple of the songs felt a bit slower-paced and didn’t stick with me as much as others on first listen — but even those grew on me over time. It’s an album that rewards patience. Overall, Happier Than Ever is vulnerable, mature, and beautifully honest. It’s not always easy listening, but it’s real — and that’s what makes it so special. Billie is evolving, and I’m here for every second of it.”
