“Hype. It's a bitch. Ascending mediocre bands to heights of unwarranted popularity, and smacking the truly great down to "critics' pet" status, hype has become a plague on any band hoping to achieve unbridled adoration among music elitists. When the media hounds smell success and respond with their annual cry of "saviors of rock and roll," disappointment is inevitable. So it goes with the Strokes, ”
“This is the stuff of which legends are made. Recorded in a sub-basement studio off Avenue A in Manhattan, where the air was blue with cigarette smoke and three pictures from a Victoria’s Secret catalog were taped to a cabinet for something like inspiration, the Strokes’ debut album is pure New York rock & roll: […]”
“**💭 Thoughts:** Legendary indie rock band The Strokes’ highly acclaimed 2001 debut *Is This It* is one of the most highly acclaimed albums of all time, featuring a raw and nostalgic garage-rock sound. While this type of music isn’t really my thing, when it’s paired with the right scenery—like driving during a sunset—it becomes a 10 easily. **🎶 Tracklist Review** 1.) Is This It 🔵 2.) “I love chill rock and this is a perfect description of that genre. The singers voice sounds good with all effects used on it and raw as well. Something good about this album is that even the less streamed songs still sound really good, some of them honestly being towards my highest rated. I never listened to the strokes before this but i see myself listening through more albums.”
“A very joyous 35 minutes Spot on reccommendation from wavelength, i’d only heard a few of the strokes’ stuff before this, and i certainly enjoyed it. The vocals are really nice to listen to, plus its consistent. It only really loses points for being a little repetitive however no two really stood out as a bottom 2 Top 3: Soma The Modern age New york city cops”
“The Strokes hit the ground sprinting with the greatest debut album of all time. It’s almost tragic to begin a musical career with such an insurmountable classic. Deserves all the attention and acclaim it received in the following decades. Fav song : Soma”
