“I actually discovered Picture Parlour because they opened for Louis Tomlinson down here in Miami this past summer, so I went into The Parlour not really knowing what to expect. After hearing them live, though, I was definitely curious to hear what they sounded like on a full album.
The Parlour has that gritty, old-school rock sound that feels really refreshing right now. There’s a lot of attitude in the guitars, some really catchy moments, and Katherine Parlour’s vocals give the whole thing this raw, slightly dramatic edge that I really like. You can definitely hear their classic rock influences, but there’s still enough personality here to make the album feel exciting.
What I appreciate most is that this doesn’t feel like an album I would’ve discovered on my own if I hadn’t seen them supporting Louis. It feels like one of those unexpected discoveries from a concert that actually pays off when you go back and listen afterward. The Parlour has definitely made me want to keep an eye on Picture Parlour and see where they go from here.”
